As I said in my last review, The Queen of Attolia is absolutely amazing! The emotions feel realistic, the culture is fascinating, and the settings are used throughout the war to gain advantages. Even though the book is centered around Eugenides, it is not limited to only him, and shows you the perspective of the two queens fighting. In the first part of the book, I just wanted to hug Eugenides. It was really sad to see him depressed and not up to his usual tricks, robbing his cousins, and what not. This was possibly one of the few stories that made me want to cry. But once Eugenides began moving again and turning into his old self, I was ridiculously happy, and relieved to see that the character was okay. What surprised me most about the book is the romance. I didn't think that it would be possible to pull it off, given the history between the two characters, but it worked, and I grudgingly began to cheer for them. This book was much more pleasant to read than the first one, and I felt like the dialogue and descriptions were improved. The characters are witty, clever, and I love how it is the queens orchestrating the war. Usually it is kings, so it was a lovely twist on the mundane. Over all, this book is one of my favorites, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
