In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia's life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight―but she doesn't―and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom―to a prince she has never met.
On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive―and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets―even as she finds herself falling in love. Lauren While some people found it boring, I personally loved this book! Even though I usually shy away from love triangles, this one was well written, and added to the plot of the story. While it occasionally got a little tiring to hear about Lia's daily life, the story soon picks up, and is well worth the wait. The characters are all interesting, and strangely enough, I loved being in the dark about who was the prince and who was the assassin. The changing points of view were not tiring, and the characters were all crafted well with different personalities. Over all, it was a very beautiful, clever story, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy or romance novels! Mac I read it a couple years ago and loved it! Not perfect by any literary means, but it was a lot of fun. And that plot twist. That PLOT TWIIIIIIIST THO. (!!!!!!!!!!!!) I think I just got way into the story and forgot to watch for something that huge. Oh man. Well played, Mary E. Pearson. Recommended!
