Basically, this book is a beautiful succession of alternately violent/sweet/creepy plot twists told through a collection of files: instant messages, audio transcripts, secret communications, hacking, computer code... All taking place between captains and an amazing kick-butt hacker heroine and fighter pilots and a psychotic computer who becomes obsessed with said kick-butt heroine. And this happens while plague-crazed people run around and kill people and they're being chased by an evil corporation and ships EXPLODE and there are CONSPIRACIES and ROMANCES and INTRIGUE AND MORE! (deep breath) I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. Here is my semi-coherent Goodreads review, posted the day after I read it (that's right. This was the day after and I still hadn't recovered hahaha): Oh my gosh. Oh. My. GooooOOsH. This is the best thing I've read in so long. Inventive, sweeping, heartbreaking. So great. Definitely going to get my hands on a physical copy. Like. I'm still reeling. Oh gosh. I can't believe this book. I may cry. So, yes. It was that good. And I read it on an iPad. There are pages with text that gets cut off or has to be read in a swirl. That was dedication, people. Hiiiiiighly recommended! Side note for younger readers: all major swear words are censored! Some swearing still (minor), some innuendo, lots of violence. But it's just such a great story. :') Lauren When I first started this book, I just thought it was okay. Interesting, but nothing extremely attention grabbing.
